Latest Enclosure models in the works: 04-09 Mazda 3 Hatch & 06+ Audi A4

Not much info to give here other than a few pictures of the prototypes. Both will be 10" enclosures, drivers side on the Mazda, passenger side on the Audi. Both enclosures should fit something in the realm of a W6 by Jl audio, which is a pretty big stretch for the Mazda. Both enclosures are still in the pre mold process so pre-orders have begun for both these models, visit our hompage for more info.

2010 Mazda 3 Hatch in the works

Corksport let us borrow their 2010 Mazda 3 Hatch to build an enclosure from. We went with an 8" & 10" versions for the hatch. The 8 will be for the ultimate space saver but should fit up to a W3 sized woofer. The 10" takes up a bit more room, but we're hoping to allow for some decent woofers to fit in it. Here's some pics so far before the mold process:

For some reason I erased the build pictures, so I really have nothing to show. The 12" enclosure will go on the drivers side, have an optional grill and blend seamlessly. The part is now off to start the mold process so I have no way of taking pictures of it. If I get some somehow I'll post them up.

Volkswagen has changed the Gti for 2010

We've found the Gti has changed to the new MK6 chassis, the rear of the 2010's didn't change for fitting our enclosure, but they did change the Golf rear panel. This means if you have an 09 Rabbit, or a 2010 Golf our enclosure won't fit unless you swap panels with a mk5 or 6 Interior trim panel. I was hoping they all wouldn't change but this i swhat we've found out so far. If I find anything different I'll post up.

08+ Subaru Impreza WRX Sedan 10" Perfect Fit™ Enclosure Is Completed!!

The new 08+ Subaru Wrx Sedan Perfect Fit™ enclosure has now been added to our lineup. There was a fair amount of room to work with in the trunk, the only limiting factor was the trunk floor, it folds up from front to back. This limited the amount of space we could take up, but we still managed to get the airspace and depth for the more popular woofers. It will fit most higher end 10" woofers (Jl W6, Alpine type-r).
We also developed a grill for the enclosure, which provides protection from cargo. The enclosure mounts using two factory bolt locations for a perfect fit. We even managed to make an instruction video, found here.

5Th Gen Camaro Perfect Fit Enclosure™ on it's way

We're excited to get this one going, it's still in developmental stage, but we should start the
mold process soon. I don't think we even have any real good pictures, most got washed out by the sun or had bad lighting. Our main concern was space, these trunks are very limited. When you first open the trunk it seems as there is a lot of room, but stuff some luggage in there and you'll be second guessing it. We designed it to save room as usual, but also to get proper airspace and be able to stuff a decent sized woofer in there as well. We hope to move along with this one shortly.

Volkswagen 8" and 10" Perfect Fit Enclosures™

The Volkswagen MK5 8" & 10" Enclosures are almost here! We had a busy summer and these took a bit longer to get to to this point. We wanted to give people a couple options, so this was our first venture into the 8" category. The technology these days is pretty crazy, and there is a lot of output to gain from an eight inch woofer especially for those wanting to save the most space. We also built a 10" enclosure at the same time as well. We're hoping if all goes well to release these in mid to late september. Stay tuned...

Edit (9/5/09) Molds are done, still have a few weeks to go to get it all together...

Surgeline Tuning Grand Opening!!

Surgeline Tuning's grand opening was a smashing success, local vendors were on hand showing off their goods (including ourselves). SurgeLine Tuning will focus not only on Subarus but will extend its reach into other performance markets such as Nissan 350z, Nissan GTR, MazdaSpeed 3, 6, and Cx-7, Mazda RX8, Infinity G35/37, and Mitsibushi Evo. The Surgeline team has extensive experience and this means they can offer tuning services available no where else in the USA. We were glad to be apart of the grand opening, and had a good time, we were just hoping to be able to unveil our new 08 Sti enclosure at this event, but that will have to be another day. We've been working on an enclosure for the new Subaru Sti/wrx hatch, there are a few snags we have run into along the way, but one key element has helped us tons. The 10" slim line woofer from Exile Audio(link). This woofer has enabled us to build a sleek looking enclosure and still maintain the trunk space. Lightweight fiberglass headlights and dash for Pdx tuning time attack car

After Doing some headlight blanks and lightweight fiberglass dash for PDX tunings' time attack Sti, they prestented us with another similar project for the time attack Evo. We decided to bag a bit of carbon fiber into the molds we had built off of the factory headlights, we then cleared them with a satin finish and delivered them to PDX tuning. They also wanted a light weight dash similar to the subaru, and we had mentioned we still had the mold for the subaru one and that it was only a 1/2" or so difference in the dimensions between the two, so we popped another one off the mold for that as well.

The smallest of enclosure we have built is here, the MC10. This one is a bit different from our other lines because we didn't have a whole lot of room for the flush trim, so we opted to go without it.

Another Subaru for Project One

Erich from project one brought us down his 04 Wrx, after doing many shows, he met up with some guys at Memphis Audio, they agreed on getting him setup with some gear. Since the car wasn't a daily driver, and has a harness bar, we were left with plenty of room to play with in the trunk. The car has a v-brace strut bar in the back which complicated things, but also helped out with some design cues. We decided to go with a floating theme of sorts. The crossovers located in the v-brace appear to be floating, and you can run your fingers between them and the brace all the way around the brace. The amps were mounted in a welded panel that was bolted to the car which helped off set the weight and give us a floating look. One of the overlooked areas in most cars is the battery area, erich wanted a clean looking setup without wires running in all directions. We made a panel that held the fuse holder out of black plexi to match the car.

Lightweight Subaru Dash For Pdx Tunings' time attack Sti

Pdx Tuning needed to lose as much weight as possible on their time attack car. They approached us about possibly making a fiberglass replica of the dash, some headlight blanks, and some bigger canards for the bumper. Time was short so we got on it as fast as possible, and smoothed the dash out filling the airbag clock pod and all vents, then we went about building a fiberglass mold. All said and done, the new dash weighed in around three pounds, down from eleven. The headlights weighed in around ten pounds, and if I remember right we got the covers down around a pound a piece.

The 06+ Honda civic sedan 10" enclosure is here. This one was a bit difficult to make due to the trunk arm swingin down into the enclosure area. We rounded the whole enclosure off and gave it some nice lines to flow with the car.

R32 Skyline Build

One of the more rare cars we've worked on is this 89 Skyline GTR. When it came to us, it had a bit of dinginess going on in the trunk, most of the panels were dirty, so we decided to fiberglass a whole new trunk. We also did a battery cover/holdown, which apparently we only have one finished picture of it, and what a great picture it is. Anyway, we used existing gear from another car, and went to work. A lot of time was spent just trying to get all the panels just right. The hole to the left of the woofer was put there in order to let the woofer breathe into the cabin area. We finished in time for the customer to leave here, and drive straight to hot import nights.

This build out was another somewhat basic one, besides the glassing of the bottom of the enclosure in the wheel well, there was a bit of glass work on the cover panel, but for the most part it remained flat, which definately helps on install time and difficulty. Customer brought us his two Jl amps, and an Image Dynamics Idmax 12, very impressive woofer. We had done a build for his other car previously, and had built a plexi grill, and he wanted something similar this time.

This was a pretty basic build compared to most, one 10" Diamond sub and amp off of the factory volvo radio. The customer wanted a bit more bass, but wanted to keep a nice factory look. The one thing that caused issues was the release lever, it just added some more sanding time. The enclosure had a fiberglass back, and wood sides, then was finished out with a trim matched to factory carpet and a vinyl flush trim to conceal woofer screws and flush the amp in.

Pdx Tunings' Fj Cruiser gets some sound

Jarrad from Pdx Tuning wanted some better sound in his Fj cruiser. The Fj was limited in it's room available, and jarrad would probably use the vehicle to haul engine parts for subarus, so we knew a false floor would be out of the question. The next logical choice was the ceiling! It's a ton of work working upside down, shoulders and neck take a beating. We went boston gear, and an alpine ipod unit. The amp rack was welded up and mounted, and then a panel fabricated from fiberglass was made to cover things up. The enclosure housed two 10's and was sprayed with a rhino liner covering. He wanted easy access to the ipod, so we devised a nice little slide out tray, a favorite amongst those who see it.

Rotated Manifold for the shop Subaru

We got the manifold all rotated and the front mount in, we had to remove the water meth injector to match the powder coat. Once the powder coat was finished we got the custom pipes and intake back over to PDX Tuning so they could put it all back together. The custom piping along with Perrin's fuel rails were all shot the same candy red as the water/meth tanks. The intake, TGI's and PWI-1 got shot a wrinkle black. There was plans to do more but time and money ran out so that will have to be a later project.
Without being around their shop much during the fabrication of the pipes and the rotating of the manifold I can't fully grasp all the work that went into it, but you can tell by the details in the pipes and routing of the new lines that it wasn't easy! Keeping the car totally functional with the AC poses a huge problem when rotating the intake, custom spacers were used from a previous build ( Thanks Kendrick!! ) that allow the pipe to get up and over the alternator (which was moved as well)
I can't thank the guys enough, Chris and Dustin (PDX Tuning) put in some long hours and detailed work to get everything dialed looking great for us. With PDXT just getting a new dyno and Subiefest right upon us we didn't get a chance to have the car tuned, Jarrad got it running with the new 16g and we'll be back to get her dialed when time allows. Can't wait to see how it does!!

95 Supra Buildout

This custom install was needed to help finish off the impressive nature of the car. With over 600 wheel horsepower, the sytem needed some much deserved attention to catch all eyes at the shows. The roll cage was put in and unfortunately (for us) wasn't a bolt in one, this made the install a bit more difficult. The customer supplied some mtx gear, which you'll see in one of the pics how massive the woofer is. It definately is a finger pincher if you're not careful. We fiberglassed the bottom of the enclosure and braced it from the inside, we also bolted it to the roll cage in case of any accidents. We used a matching black vinyl to finish the install off, real tight tolerances provided a real snug fit. Stainless steel perforated metal was used to cover the amps, and we also devised a couple small cubbys for storage behind the seats.

Shop Subaru Gets more work

Trying to do something a bit different from everybody else's setup is what we always try to do. For the water methanol, we came up with the idea of using three separate 4" diameter aluminum tubes stacked one on top of the other. With a new interior panel fabricated from scratch to show them off and blend them seamlessly into the trunks interior. Each tank would have fittings that would allow the water/meth mixture to flow between all three tanks, with the primer pump being installed on the bottom and a filler tube and cap on the top. With the tanks connected together there is just over 1.5 gallons available. Dustin from PDX Tuning cut and welded the tanks together, because of fitting into a cramped space one tank is slightly shorter than the other two. To make everything work and fit into the car I had to make a temporary jig to hold the tanks in their exact position in relation to each other and their position in the car. The jig also acted as a starting point in which the new trunk panel would be fabricated from and would also be used to mock up all the connecting lines.

All said and done all the fittings/connections between the tanks will be hidden behind the panel on the end of the tanks. With just the middle of the tanks showing we should have a pretty clean little setup. Since the trunk area of the car holds our Perfect Fit Enclosure and Amplifier Rack all covered in matching O.E.M. carpet I wanted to add some color to the mix. The tanks, along with all the new custom piping for the rotated manifold got shot a candy red color. I'm real happy with the way they turned out, should stand out and make a nice contrast to the dark carpet everywhere.
The wood jig got transfered over as a template to make a plexiglass version. I used 3/4 inch clear plexi that is polished on the top and bottom but the face is lightly sanded. All said and done we'll use some red led's to shoot a little light up through it. The light will pass through the clear sections, but light up the sanded edges making for a nice accent.
The top portion of the trim panel has an oval / pill shaped insert flushed into it. This will also be made from plexiglass and allows the filler tube to come through. There's a couple little things planned for it, lazer etched markings and a led indicator for tank levels. I transfered the oval pill shaped insert that goes into the top of the trunk trim panel into 1/4 inch plexi glass and dropped it off to get lazer etched. Nothing too fancy, just labeling the mixture and then a bar graph to indicate the tanks level. This will be usefull when filling the tanks as well as checking their level when in use. As the tanks fill up the led's light up, tanks empty & the led's turn off. I've got wires heading up front as well so later I'll have the same indicators for viewing when driving.
The plexi glass mounting for the tanks light up with 8 red led's on each side, a total of 16 for all the tanks. Hard to find led's in the configuration I needed so I just made my own. 4 led's got soldered to a board and wired with the proper resistors for the 12 volt application. The led's sit just under the edge of the plexi, shinning light up the vertical edge and into the tank hole cutouts. Both the tank levels and lighting is wired off the trunk trigger, trunk open you have light, trunk closed and the led's go out. Didn't get time but we'll light up the rest of the etched words later, probably in white.

04 Audi S4 small stealthy build

The customer of this Audi wanted a simple clean and as non-obtrusive install as possible. Keeping the factory head unit, we used an Alpine pdx amp, Diamond sub and Diamond Hex speakers. We glassed the enclosure and then made a frame to support the pop-off cover to access the gear. The crossovers tucked neatly in the storage compartment on the opposite side which worked out awesome.

07 Mini Cooper gets quiet while getting loud

A lot of pictures here, usually we try to grab as many as possible but it usually ends up with us taking half as many as we wanted, or none of the finished product. Anyways, this customer wanted a quiet vehicle, and a loud stereo. We used sevral bulk packs, and dynamatted the whole vehicle except for the headliner. Fingers and knees were sore for days after that. Gear wise, were some of the pioneer seperates, JL 300/4, and 250/1, and a 10w3. We raised the floor a bit to allow for the gear, but also to try and match the height of the seats when they are folded down so the customer would have an even flat floor. The amp rack also swings up out of the way for access to the battery.

Audio Integrations Chevy Silverado Demo Build Begins

After having a nice setup that wasn't fully completed, we decided to start fresh, first by removing the old Jl audio setup. We will be using Diamond audio 600.4, 1500.1, eclipse 8454, Diamond Hex 3 way setup, and 2 D6 10" subs.

Here's some pics of what was, we liked the overall layout of the old setup, and wanted to stick with a console of sorts from the front to back.

A customer local to us wanted to a bit of a simplistic system with one woofer, some storage, and a bit custom work for when he goes to shows. We placed a Diamond 400.1 in the center, an enclosure with a fiberglass back, and a storage area in the back on the drivers side. We also put in some Boston Acoustic Sl60's in the door, and hid a four channel amp in the storage area as well.

PDX Tunings' Legacy Build

Jarrad from Pdx tuning felt it was time to redo the current system in his Legacy to get a bit more of his company's logo out there, and make the system a bit more representable. The first system that was in there was done by a local car stereo shop, they apparently had no problems with using the heaviest materials available. The enclosure was made from a fiberglass mix that is extremely heavy, it saves time, but isn't the best way of doing a lightweight fiberglass enclosure, in fact, the old enclosure weighed in at 37 pounds empty!! Our new version was 16 pounds, quite a bit of difference when you go to the track. The second thing that needed fixing was the wiring, there was more spaghetti in there than olive garden. Whoever worked on the car before had never heard of zip ties.
Jarrad also wanted a gauge pod made to house his defi gauges, he didn't like the double stick approach for mounting them to his dashboard. He already had an existing wire hole ran through the upper vent, so we had to come up with a gauge pod that could also cover up that wire run.

All the gear he had he wanted to use, and we had no problem coming up with a simple and elegant design after scratching our heads for a bit.

Armin Ausejo of project one brought his 02 bugeye down for some audio goodies to help score points in the show car scene. If you've been to any import shows in the northwest, you've probably seen this car. Armin and the team at project one make it their goal to hit as many shows as possible. Knowing this we decided to use some our products to speed along the install while keeping costs down. We opted for some blue matching paint, and some blue leds to give the trunk a simple but showy install. We went a bit oldschool and came up with a laser etched system diagram since you don't see it too often anymore. We also decided to give his underhood a bit of show as well with a nice plexiglass batery cover, this area is one thats often overlooked and we wanted to give it some detail.

Highly Modified Wrx gets an audio upgrade

Kendrick Gray brought us his 05 Subaru Wrx to us in early August, and wanted something to go along with the look of the rest of the car. The vehicle had many performance upgrades, and the only thing missing was a stereo. We decided that a black gel coat enclosure would fit the bill best. He also wanted to not have to have the amps seen, and a cover for the amp in the spare tire area so he could still haul stuff from time to time. This vehicle also got one of the only door pods we've made since the ones for our demo car.

Rounding Up The Rest Of The Demo Car Build

Well, at least for now we've completed the demo car for the summer, I'm sure it will change a few times for sure. We added Some Tein coilovers, Tein controller, and ran some power wire and other little goodies. We figured pulling the door off would allow us an easy path for running wire, which happened to be three seats of 16 ga wire, and three seperate sets of primary wire for future expansion (window control, door lighting etc). The wheel well was removed to run our two sets of power wires, and any other wires needed for the tein controller. We also added a pigtail in the back for hooking up to an inverter to run the car for shows.

Here's some pics of the Tein controller being molded into the ashtray area, pretty tight fit, but we managed to squeeze it in there. It got a bit heavy on the texture for our liking, but once it was tucked in it looked all right.

Subaru Fiberglass Amp Rack Is Here

Another one of our products is officially released!! This particular product brought a few obstacles along the way, but we finally got it completed and ready for sale. This Perfect Fit Amp Rack sits directly behind your rear seat, while still allowing access to the spare. Constructed out of hand laid fiberglass with MDF trim ring, this amp rack will work well with most amplifiers, and has a nice open face to allow for cooling. As you can tell in the pics, the rack has a glossy black gel coat finish.

Door Pods For The Shop Subaru Begin

I've been meaning to getting around to doing this for a while, one of the main reasons for making the door pods is because you can't fit a real nice speaker behind the door panel without it either hitting the window and track or playing into the back of the plastic door panel. A lot of times people don't realize if they do get a larger speaker to fit behind the panel it usually hits the backside of the panel when it's playing at louder volumes.

Here's the begining of the door pods. I will have a 6, 4, and tweet set up in my door but it will also work for just a 6 and tweet.

Here's a couple shots of the finished door pod. This is just one of the grills that may be offered, so different looks and styles will be available. We also have to re-work part of the mold to make them more installer friendly and a little easier to reproduce. They're not the greatest pictures, have quite the yellow look to them. The vinyl we used was straight black and after cleaning them up on the door panel the black looks too dark. We got a charcoal color that we'll try next time for a closer to stock look.
